Produced over the summer of 2016, these drawings represent freedom and control.

The images explore the theme of absence as presence. They are a collective metaphor for emancipation. The objects in each picture were used to restrain and retain that which they surrounded. The constrained have withdrawn, leaving the object in ignorant isolation. They belong to a past narrative of the relationship between predator and prey. The items are isolated and contained within their frame. This renders them motionless and unable to cause harm. The hoods and hooks, devices of constriction, take on human proportions, positioning the viewer within the composition.

This collection celebrates the joy of observational drawing, allowing peaceful contemplation as I redefine my past.
